Skill List

The following skills are permitted in the setting. Skills and their use are detailed starting on page 86 of Fate Core.

Athletics -
Overcome | Create Advantage | Defend
The Athletics skill represents your character’s general level of physical fitness, whether through training, natural gifts, Magik or even cybernetics. It’s how good you are at moving your body. As such, it is a popular choice for nearly any action-y character.

Burglary -
Overcome | Create Advantage
The Burglary skill covers your character’s aptitude for stealing things and getting into places that are off-limits.
This includes the use of technology, allowing the character to bypass security systems, disable alarms, and open computer controlled doors.

Contacts -
Overcome | Create Advantage | Defend
Contacts is the skill of knowing and making connections with people. It presumes proficiency with all means of networking available.

Deceive -
Overcome | Create Advantage | Defend
Lying, cheating and misdirection. Anyone can do it. This is the skill of not getting noticed when you do.

Drive -
Overcome | Create Advantage | Defend
Skill and knowledge in the operation of things that move. This skill is all encompassing of land, air and sea vehicles such as cars, hoverbikes, civilian aircraft, jet skis and yachts. It does not include the operation of big stomping robots (Operate), remote controlled drones (Operate), tanks (Operate) or battleships (Operate). It's recommended that you take a stunt to represent specialization or unique training.

Empathy -
Overcome | Create Advantage | Defend
Empathy involves knowing and being able to spot changes in a person’s mood or bearing. It’s basically the emotional Notice skill.

Engineering (Crafts) -
Overcome | Create Advantage
Engineering is the skill of working with machinery and electronics, for good or ill. It is the skill used to fix, break, build and diagnose machines, electronics, cybernetics and computers. It is the practical application of knowing how machines are supposed to work.

Fight -
Overcome | Create Advantage | Attack | Defend
The Fight skill covers all forms of close-quarters combat, both unarmed and using weapons. Swordsmen, bare-knuckle boxers and Wu-Shu adepts all use this skill to determine their effectiveness though stunts are encouraged when exceptional training, style or talent are involved.

Infosec -
Overcome | Create Advantage | Attack | Defend
Short for information security, infosec is the all encompassing skill used when accessing, changing, destroying or defending information on a computer or network. It is the practical application of knowing how software is supposed to work.

Investigate -
Overcome | Create Advantage
Investigate is the skill you use to find things out. It’s a counterpart to Notice. Whereas Notice revolves around situational alertness and surface observation, Investigate revolves around concentrated effort and in-depth scrutiny.

Knowledge (Lore) -
Overcome | Create Advantage
The Knowledge skill is about learned information and education. Specialized knowledge should be represented with a stunt.

Magik -
Overcome | Create Advantage | Attack | Defend
Magik is the skill of manifesting, controlling and understanding the mysterious forces of the same name. For some, this is a strong instinct dictated by intuition and feel. For others, it's hard practice and nuanced understanding painstakingly earned through experimentation. Magik is difficult to control and almost always involves the accumulation of Stress. The problem isn't so much what can be done but what the world thinks can be done and disbelief is deadly. Use this skill to recharge Magik batteries, recognize and interpret runes, spot the presence or use of Magik or even to cast a couple spells like a real world Dungeons and Dragons sorcerer before your body folds in half and looks for the nearest exit to this reality.

Notice -
Overcome | Create Advantage | Defend
The Notice skill involves just that—noticing things. It’s a counterpart to Investigate, representing a character’s overall perception, ability to pick out details at a glance, and other powers of observation. Usually, when you use Notice, it’s very quick compared to Investigate, so the kinds of details you get from it are more superficial, but you also don’t have to expend as much effort to find them.

Operate -
Overcome | Create Advantage | Defend
Operate is the skill and knowledge in the operation of military vehicles and industrial robots that require special interfaces that differ significantly from those found on civilian vehicles. Like Drive, this skill's civilian counterpart, Operate is all encompassing of land, air and sea and includes tanks, fast attack aircraft, nuclear submarines and powered armor. It is also used in the active control of drones and robots.

Physique -
Overcome | Create Advantage | Defend
The Physique skill is a counterpart to Athletics, representing the character’s physical aptitudes, such as raw strength and endurance whether by training, natural gifts, Magik or even cybernetics.

Provoke -
Overcome | Create Advantage | Attack
Provoke is the skill about getting someone’s dander up and eliciting a negative emotional response from them—fear, anger, shame, etc. It’s the “being a jerk” skill.
To use Provoke, you need some kind of justification. That could come entirely from situation, or because you have an aspect that’s appropriate, or because you’ve created an advantage with another skill or because you’ve assessed your target’s aspects.

Rapport -
Overcome | Create Advantage | Defend
The Rapport skill is all about making positive connections to people and eliciting positive emotion. It’s the skill of being liked and trusted.

Resources -
Overcome | Create Advantage
Resources describes your character’s general level of material wealth in the game world and ability to apply it. This might not always reflect cash on hand, given the different ways you can represent wealth in the setting. It should be noted that the Operator identity, the team under which you rally, has its own Resources skill.

Shoot -
Overcome | Create Advantage | Attack
The counterpart to Fight, Shoot is the skill of using ranged weaponry, either in a conflict or on targets that don’t actively resist your attempts to shoot them (like a bull’s-eye or the broad side of a barn). This includes big guns, small guns and even special ranged weapons like rocket launchers and mortars. Special training or affinity with a weapon or shooting style could be represented as a stunt.

Stealth -
Overcome | Create Advantage | Defend
The Stealth skill allows you to avoid detection, both when hiding in place and trying to move about unseen. It pairs well with the Burglary skill.

Will -
Overcome | Create Advantage | Defend
The Will skill represents your character’s general level of mental fortitude, the same way that Physique represents your physical fortitude. If you were at risk of going insane, this skill might help. Then again, this isn't a Call of Cthulhu game. The DM doesn't have any plans to play with our character's sanity. That would be off genre! Who would mix old gods with cyberpunk? That's just a dumb idea and it would never Ever Their praises, and abundance to the Black Goat of the Woods. Iä! Shub-Niggurath! Iä! Shub-Niggurath! The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young!
